about

When I broke my back they fixed me by screwing titainium rods into my back, above and below my exploded vertebra. Then they dropped a handful of bone grafts in there which grew around the titainium like cement around rebar. Those bone grafts came from a cadaver; a dead human being.

As I lay awake in that hospital bed I thought to myself, “What if I somehow started receiving ghost memories from these bone grafts? What if the deceased was reaching out to me through some kind of supernatural connection that we now share? And what if I then could then use those memories to solve his (my ghost’s) murder???”

Well, I think that would be pretty rad and I’m trying to be as open to that happening possible. This song is written from the perspective of the ghost, murdered by a female serial killer, and it’s purely fiction… or is it? Da da DAAAA!

lyrics

Intro: C B Em C B Em

Verse:
C B Em
To fix him they would need some help
C B Em G
Repair his broken bones and re-enforce with living cells
C B Em
The surgurey it seemed went well
C B Em A
With after effects no one would believe if he would tell
C B Em
Memories of a living hell
C B Em
I had a habit and I walked alone
C B Em G
Decidedly empathic, but I’d hoped she wouldn’t know
C B Em
Then everything began to go slow
C B Em A
My knees started to weaken and my heart sank fuckin' low
C B Em (G, A, B, C)
Moments later I hit the floor

Chorus:
C A D G D/F# Em
Please don’t look at me she said I aint tryin to earn your sympathy
A D G D Em A D G B
This is just a need, can’t you see? Now bleed, just bleed

Verse 2:
I felt the edge against my neck
She pushed a little harder dragged an inch then stopped to check
She said now just hold on a sec
It’ll all be over soon and in an instant you will rest
Then she pulled in close against my chest
Last thing I saw ‘fore the lights went out
I flashed across her face then sank down deep into the couch
There was a kind of quiet loud
Finally I was sure there was no longer any doubt
Then I was gone at least for now

(Chorus)

(Solo)

Verse 3:
He came to in recovery
The drugs were wearing off and his senses returning The nurse came and urged him back to sleep
In a dream I realized I had my first chance to speak I said listen here I gotta tell you a story
Look at all this sick shit that was done
It’s kind of sad I had to die for this sick bitch to have fun
And you know I’m not the only one
To stop her get some cops here or at least someone with a gun
And let me say right now thanks a ton

Final chorus:
Police stormed in and she, she said
I ain’t tryin to hide you got nothin’ on me
This is - this place is clean, can’t you see?
Now leave, just leave

Verse 4:
But the detective knew where to look
He got impossible information now he’d do it by the book
He had her sinker, line, and hook
She wondered after all these years if her god had forsook her
Sad, but relieved, her goose was cooked

I didn’t speak to him again
I let him go on with his life, heal his back, get on the mend
But I’m there at each and every bend
Silently I’m guiding, a subtle push every now and then
My last and only friend
These memories of a living hell come to an end
