I do love to write love songs and I do indeed often write them just like this. It’s funny to me that this album has two love songs on it and neither of them were inspired by someone I was actually in love with. Which is certainly not to say that I didn’t fall in love during the year I spent writing these songs. I feel lucky to have fallen in love often and with some of the best women in the world. And really, like all my songs, these are about all the women I’ve loved, as well as the women still to come. And some of this is, of course, also metaphor for how much I love freestyle skiing and other cool things in my life.

Inspired by the hope that someday you and I will kiss
And I know in my heart I don’t ever want to miss

And I gave this song a theme
It’s about dreaming all the dreams that I can dream
And I imagine you saying you love me like coffee loves cream
And I just want to re-hear ya

These words are me
These songs are who I am and who I want to be
And if it didn’t hurt, could it ever be as sweet
I need the sour to compare ya

I wrote this verse I sing
Tellin’ how you make me feel like you’re a queen and I’m a king
But my songs can’t turn coal into the sparkliest bling
But they don’t have to that’s not what you care about

And I wrote these chords I play
I try and play them almost each and every day
Cause it’s about as close to what I’m trying to say
You’re so precious I don’t want to share ya now
You’re like my favourite jeans, I don’t want to wear you out
